Selfie
was recorded at Selfie Studio, Pataskala Ohio; otherwise known as my basement. I played a variety of guitars and a vintage Korg Karma synthesizer into Cakewalk Sonar Platinum recording software.
"The Keeper of the Keys" is played with an unusual Am11 tuning. It was inspired by a pre-release review of the book "Desert Rising" by Kelly Grant.
The pretty woman on the CD cover is my daughter-in-law who graciously agreed to take a selfie for the Selfie CD, and my friend Brian Korodi skillfully photo shopped us on to a subway train (as the words to title song suggest). Except I am Oriole Fan - It was hard to put on a Pirate hat...
The vines in "Washed Away" are supposed to be kudzu vines. I don't know why I called them kudro vines, but I left it as is, anyway.
"Vegas to Santa Fe" is played with an open D. The verses were recorded on TEAC 4 track in 1984. I added the chorus vocals and synthesized guitar adornments for this album.
"Corporatocracy" is capitalism gone wild.
"Oxygen Eyes" rocks out, but I wish I had taken the time for another verse. Maybe a remake later...
Wondered "Whatever Happened to the Time" while the soundtrack from that era sticks in my head.
Ocean City, Maryland, seagulls and trigonometry collide in "arcsin" while children laugh on beach.
"Soldier of Fortune" poses the question of fate versus agency. In a lot less words...
"No Happy Rap" Right... Most of my stuff is on the dark side, if not downright depressing (see song title above), so I own it!
"Story Listening" is dedicated to my wife, Debbie
"A Baby in the Old Cold War" ...my early years in Baltimore, Maryland
